Since I don't have a lot of time to spend making dinner, most of my meals have to either take 30-45 minutes or less, or I have to just cook them all day in the crockpot. I've had a brisket in my freezer and I've never made a brisket, so I cooked one in the crockpot today.
You will need:
1 3-5 lb brisket ( just make sure it will fit in your crockpot)
1 large onion, chopped
4 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon sea salt
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon Toni's seasoning
For the sauce:
1/3 cup coconut vinegar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 cloves garlic
2-3 cups chicken broth
Start by placing the chopped onion in the bottom of the crockpot. Next mix your spices in a small bowl and then rub mixture all over brisket. Place brisket in crockpot on top of chopped onions. Now mix all your sauce ingredients in a bowl accept the chicken broth. Top brisket with sauce and then cover with just enough chicken broth to fill the bottom of the crock pot.
Turn crockpot on and cook for 6 hours or more. I cooked mine for about 9 hours.
One question .. what is in Toni’s seasoning? I haven’t found it online or in the store.
Hey.
Toni’s seasoning is like a all purpose seasoning. It’s just the particular brand that I use. You can use any brand of your choice.
Kathryn
Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning? Also, I’m new to crockpot cooking, mine has temperature settings:low, med, high, and simmer. Should I cook the brisket on medium heat? Thanks.
Tony Chachere’s is a creole all purpose seasoning. You can use any all purpose seasoning in its place.
My crockpot has low and high. If I am cooking something all day in it, I put it on low. If you are only letting it cook for 4 or so hours, I would put it on high.
I think the brisket would be better cooking it all day on low temp.
