Today my dad turns 61. Below is a picture of him taken while running last years New York City marathon. It was his 4th time to run it.
For over a year I have been trying to talk my parents into starting crossfit and also starting paleo. 5 months ago they started paleo, and 1 month ago my dad started crossfit.
Yesterday he called me, and was using words like WOD, snatch, Murph, and Kip. He even asked me what was my Fran time. I have to say,it's pretty awesome to hear that from your 61 year old dad.
My parents had their yearly check up at the Cooper clinic and their doctor told them that they were in great health. She said that following paleo was definitely working for them and that they should continue eating this way. Their body fat had significantly gone down and cholesterol was perfect. She told them that she had never seen such drastic improvements to someone that was already healthy.
Yesterday after my dads crossfit WOD he called me to let me know that he had done 55 burpee pull ups rxd! I'd say that's pretty good for someone who one month ago was using the thickest band to assist them in pull ups. At 61 he is becoming fitter, faster, and stronger.
